Non-profit Founder

Treger Strasberg formed Humble Design, a national non-profit in 2009 to assist families coming out of homeless shelters with the process of rebuilding their home lives. The mission: to turn four bare walls into a clean, dignified and welcoming home by repurposing gently used household goods.

Humble Design was born out of the belief that families emerging from homelessness deserve to come home each day to a clean, friendly, and dignified home. Many of these families have left behind all personal items upon escaping and entering an emergency shelter. Most have no beds, books, toys or furniture to call their own.

Humble Design currently has the capacity to assist up to 11 families per week in 5 cities nationwide.

Treger gathered her experience from working in the advertising and marketing arena for 10 years and her BFA from SVA and non-profit management certificate from Harvard and applied them to helping real people with real problems.

Treger has held many board seats including the Development Committee at the Detroit Zoo, The Norman Yatooma Foundation, the Executive Committee of Michigan Democratic Party and a Council Member of Senators Stabenow and Peter's Leadership Council. She is the current chairwoman of Humble Design. She is also the proud mother of two children and loves to involve them in the charity as much as possible.

She has been nominated for two Emmys, awarded ABC World News' Person of the Week, 2017 Volunteer of the Year by Governor Snyder in Michigan, 2020 Woman of Distinction in California, IIDA Business Innovator, TCH Diversity Award, the Lighthouse Salute America award, Optimist Club's Ruby Award, Girl Scout of America's One Tough Cookie Award, Make your Marc award by Marc Fisher, and Oakland County Executive's Elite 40 Under 40, and others.
Humble Design has been featured on The Today Show, The Rachael Ray Show, CNN, ABC, NBC, Upworthy, Ford Go Further, the Meredith Vieira Show, Mitch Albom's Heart of Detroit, the Radiant Project, and many others.

You can see her every Saturday morning on the CW and BYUtv hosting the show "Welcome Home," which follows Treger and her husband Rob through the process of changing a family's life through design.
